A huge thank you to Paulann Canty at the Growthlines blog for nominating “The Reinvented Lass” for the Versatile Blogger award. It’s my first blog award, and I’m really excited about it! It’s nice to be recognized by fellow bloggers, especially ones that I don’t know personally.
I started this blog because I was at a crossroads in my life and had the opportunity to take the time and the thought process to deliberately decide how I want my life to be. I have learned a lot about myself in the process, and I have also found that writing is a very important creative outlet to me.
Blogging has also exposed me to lots of other writers whose work have inspired me, challenged me and made me think. I have grown as a result of reading their blogs, and they play an important role in my reinvention.
According to the requirements of the award I must:
• Nominate 15 other bloggers
• Inform my nominees
• Share 7 random facts about myself
• Thank those who nominated me
• Add a picture of the award to this post
So congratulations to these nominees!
2) Smitten Kitchen
Always a place to get ideas for food. Great food. Great food that seems easy to make. And turns out to be easy to make. Plus I love her writing style. But I don’t understand where she gets the energy and time to do all that cooking. On the plus side, she has a cookbook coming out soon. Which I might need to get.
3) The Bloggess
Freakin’ laugh-out-loud funny. Don’t read this at work unless you want strange looks from your coworkers. But go ahead if you’re used to strange looks from your coworkers. And she can be serious at times too in ways that really makes you think. Plus she has a picture of Wil Wheaton collating.
4) Hyperbole and a Half
Another laugh-out-loud and awesome blog. Even serious topics are written with humor in them. Love this one. And awesome pictures. And fun words – parp?
5) The Girl Who Ate Everything
Great food ideas and recipes. Plus she just had a baby! Probably source number two for me when looking for recipes. (Smitten Kitchen is usually number one.)
6) WASD Through Life
My friend NA writes this one. Usually thought-provoking. She hasn’t written in a while but I’m sure she’ll be back with more posts that make me go hmmm.
7) Flying by the Seat of my Pants
Written by friend TS. Funny, heart-warming stories of everyday life raising two kids and being married in suburbia.
8) Things My Roommate Makes
Another great food blog. Love this one and have tried a lot of recipes from it. It hasn’t been updated in a while but hopefully the goodness will continue so.
9) Simple Speedy Snacks
Food blog! Which obviously I love. Great food ideas for snacks that are, well, simple and speedy. Sometimes you read it and go, duh, why didn’t I think of that? But ideas that are so awesome and easy!
10) The Gentle Home
This one is a great one for focusing life. She talks about little joyous moments in life, including those with God, and also ideas on keeping a gentle home in terms of cleaning too. I feel calm reading her blog, and I also get inspired to simplify my life.
11) Sarah On The Go
She has more experiences than most anyone I know. And she draws inspiration and lessons from them all and shares them in this blog. And sometimes, she goes on rants too. I like people who rant. Makes me feel not so crazy.
12) Drama Queen Seams
Crafts and sewing! Yay! She has great ideas on incredibly simple things to do and make. I get lots of craft ideas from her. Too bad I can’t sew.
13) Savory Simple
Another great food blog. Tons of great ideas, all very simple and tasty. I love reading this one and getting inspired to try new food ideas.
14) So It Goes…
Amazing. This girl is in college, majoring in something sciency, and is trying to recover and defeat an eating disorder. You think you have daily challenges? Read her blog and gain some perspective. And you can learn too on how to deal with difficult things in an honest, upbeat, and real way.
15) A Friend To Yourself
As the name suggests, this blog talks about how to be a friend to yourself. And when you think about it, that’s something that not many people are very good at. I know I don’t treat myself as well as I treat my friends, so it’s helpful for me to read this blog and remind myself to be good to me.
Give all these a read. You won’t regret any of it.
OK, 7 random facts about me (that you don’t already know):
1) I have four tattoos and would love to get a fifth one when I have the money.
2) I’ve never had a cavity.
3) I’ve always had more guy friends than girl friends. I usually find it easier to talk to guys.
4) I sometimes have the sense of humor of a 14-year-old boy. I can find innuendo in almost any sentence. And I love movies like Animal House and Wedding Crashers.
5) I’ve never lived anywhere but the Twin Cities. While it totally worked out for me, I sometimes regret not going away for college.
6) I have a Mr Big in my life.
7) I have a fear of heights, in particular any height that I feel like I can fall from.
