Blogging challenge, day 6

August blogging challenge, day 6: A favorite quote and why it’s special

Two quotes:

“I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.” -Groucho Marx

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Both quotes remind me to let go of what has happened in the past and let go of what happened yesterday. I can choose to be happy today. Some days, that’s easier to do than on other days. But the quotes remind me to not worry and obsess over what ridiculous things happen yesterday. Today is a fresh start, and I can choose to make it a great one.
